At City Kids Dental, we provide all the essential services your child may need, including but not limited to the following. Have a question about a service you do not see listed below? Give us a call at (773) 293-2700

Preventative Care

Our focus in on prevention! We offer Infant, Child, Adolescent and Special Needs Patient Examinations of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, professional dental cleanings, and topical fluoride treatments. Based on our caries risk assessment of your child, we provide individualized instructions in oral hygiene, diet/nutrition, and home fluoride use. We routinely assess growth and development as part of the pre-orthodontic screening portion of our examinations.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative treatment can relieve pain, re-establish function, restore esthetics, and make it easier to maintain good oral hygiene. Our restorative services include composite (tooth colored) fillings, anterior tooth colored crowns and posterior stainless steel crowns, pulpal (nerve) therapies, extractions, space maintenance and more.

Digital Radiography

City Kids Dental is equipped with digital x-ray technology, which means we can take x-rays much more quickly with a minimum of radiation and processing time. Digital images can be magnified to provide improved diagnostics and larger images for parents to more easily understand their child’s treatment needs.

Fluoride Varnish

The varnish is painted directly onto the teeth with a small brush, much like a nail polish application. It is much easier for young children to tolerate than fluoride trays. The fluoride varnish remains on the tooth surfaces for four to six hours. This facilitates maximal fluoride uptake and strengthens the tooth’s surface making it more resistant to the decay process. Fluoride varnish also minimizes the risk of inadvertent fluoride ingestion.

Sealants

A dental sealant is a plastic material that is professionally applied to the grooves and crevices of the premolars and molars. Sealants act as a barrier to food, plaque and acid production to protect the decay prone chewing surfaces of these teeth. Sealants do not protect between teeth so, it is important to continue to floss daily even after a sealant is applied. The application is fast, comfortable and can protect the teeth for many years to come!

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards can significantly reduce the incidence of dental trauma in children and teens who are active in sports. Designs depend on the age, type of sport played, position played, & level of competition.

Habit Therapy

We provide discussions on pacifier use, bottle habits, sippy cups, and thumb and finger sucking habits.  When age appropriate, we can offer positive supportive tips and encouragement to help your child stop these habits.  This advice, coupled with the support from parents, helps most children eliminate these habits.  As a last resort, we may recommend a habit appliance to help break thumb and finger sucking habits.

Sedation Options

A “tell, show and do” approach in which our dental team explains procedures before we perform them is in place to ease your child and promote an understanding and acceptance of their treatment steps. During lengthy and involved procedures, keeping pediatric patients calm and cooperative may include additional techniques.
