Every year approximately 450 million toothbrushes-almost half a billion–make their way into landfills in the US. Most are a #5 plastic that will never biodegrade and will remain in those landfills long after you, and your teeth, are gone.
The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. A new toothbrush is 95% more effective than a 3 month old tooth brush. So while replacing old brushes is a good idea for your dental health, it no longer has to be bad news for the environment.
City Kids Dental is teaming up with the Colgate® Oral Care Recycling Program and TerraCycle to recycle your oral care waste.
You can recycle in 2 easy steps:
1. Place your old toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes, and empty floss boxes into a sealed ziploc bag. (The items can be any brand).
2. Bring your items to City Kids Dental and drop them into our recycle bin. It is as simple as that!
We will ship your oral care product waste to Terra Cycle to be recycled and turned into a park bench or picnic table!
You really can make a difference one toothbrush at a time!
